If you want, you can get some eibach 30's and swap them for my h&r 40-45's?

why, is he a suspension guru that knows how to make suspension work properly? I doubt it given the ride height

No but fabricating suspension and other components on a Renault 5 turbo as a daily bread and butter must be a pretty nifty trade to work in. I see nothing wrong with the ride height, it handles incredibly.

yep.
Welshpug makes a statement...
Backs it up with abuse.

Tbf, he will technically be right, hence Eibach only dropping 30mm for performance instead of looks, but whether it's noticeable in the real world is a different story!
less talk of ride height, more throttle bodies

seconded.
Talk of ride height aside (it will be raised btw) I've managed to aquire a mk1 xsara vts steering rack. As they don't have the 6 speed box I was wandering if the wheel would hit the gearbox without the built in stop of a 6 rack?
the ram has the stop not the rack i believe

Ah tidy, just a case of using the ram off the 6 rack then
Got another 2.4 rack? They seem to be very difficult to find.

Mk1 vts are 2.2 racks aren't they?

Yeah the 2.2 are the quick racks

Excellent

this was my understanding!
Yah 2.4 ph1 - got one on the zx, it's dope. Has a square drive, I had to change my lower steering column as Zx comes with splined standard, dunno about 306.

I'm sure the 306 is also splined, didn't think of that, may have to take a trip back and get some more parts of the vts breaker
Hah I didn't think of it either till I offered it up :/
306 lower column to rack is square drive, zx's are splined, joint to uppers column is splined on them all.
Not sure when they changed from spline to square on the pas racks, might be late zx's with square racks.

Ah that's good news then, is it 205 that are splined that I'm thinking of?
yeah, all 205's pas were splines, manual 205 racks changed from splined to square in 1990
The quick rack is 2.4, came off the phase 1 xsara vts. And yes when I fitted mine I realised you need your standard '6 ram otherwise it'll clip the gearbox on full lock and fail it's test!

It was you I was thinking of when wandering how to put the gti6 stop in when changing racks, matts black rallye is missing the inhibitor and has worn the gearbox cap smooth from wheel contact!

Oi! mines just making itself even lighter as it goes
Haha, shaving the weight off a few grams at a time :p
First load of bits off to be powder coated, be a shame to fit a shiny new beam with tatty brackets and Shields
Finally picked up the new beam. Huge thanks to stef for sorting it, just waiting for parts to come back from the powder coaters and I'll get it refitted
