Last night I got flashed by a speed camera. I believe my speed was between 60-70 on a 50mph dual carriage way. Visibility on the road was good and the road was clear. What should I be expecting?

I'd be over the moon if I'm able to do the course. Can't afforded to mess my clean licence up. Can someone just confirm if I don't get anything through the post for 14 days I escaped the consequences of speeding or is this just another myth.

Being that much over I think it's unlikely you'll be offered the course, so 3 points and a fine.

That's if the camera was "on" I was flashed just before getting on the M4 in london and didnt hear anything about it

Yeah a lot of people are telling me not to worry about it until I get a notice through the post. But with it being the first time still not sure what to expect lol

Speed awareness courses are offered up to 10% +9mph over the speed limit.

A few websites that I've been looking say due to it being the first speeding offence I will be offered the course. But then again half the bulls*** on the net is a load of crap

On the AA website (the company who run the awareness course) it specifies the same as above. I'd be inclined to say it is a constant standard, but I couldn't say for sure. ![]() Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI

Lol very disappointed in my self I knew the speed limit of the dual carriage way and was also aware of the camera. But at 1am I was so tired that I didn't think of it at the time

I got flashed by a strategically parked mobile van at 37 in a 30 years ago, got 3 points and fixed penalty.

It happens. Speeding is the most broken law in the UK.
Near enough everybody does it, and most who say they don't are probably lying. Ambiguous statement I know. ![]() Just next time, don't get caught :p ![]() Member of the 99% warning or you're nothing club 2000 Moonstone 1.8 Meridian - Sold 2000 China 3dr XS - Dead 1998 Diablo 3dr XSI

Sometimes it does take something like this to make you pay more attention/be more sensible. I know that I'm a lot different now from how I was 4 years ago when I did that. But it comes with age too...

Regardless how of how quiet the roads are

I went on a course in October, 53 in a 40. First points I got were 48 in a 40. And 60 in a 50. There is no set rules, just guidelines that vary from county to county

Some counties don't offer the courses.
I've been flashed by a few cameras and never had a ticket through so you could well be lucky.

Where I live (North Yorkshire) you get offered the speed awareness course if you do less than 64mph in a 50mph.

I bet that's all of Yorkshire actually, my mate got caught at 62 in a 50 (A64 heading out of Leeds) and got the course. You might be lucky mate, if it's 10% + 9mph that's 64mph, if you reckon you were doing "about 70", accounting for the fact that every 306 I've ever known has an under-reading speedo, you may JUST be lucky...

Was the national limit specified or was it actually specified by a 50mph sign. I wouldn't worry too much, as said 306s under read no end. If you do get a ticket suck it up, most people have points now and it's not frowned upon on your insurance like it used to, some don't change your premium at all.
