Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 Last night I got flashed by a speed camera. I believe my speed was between 60-70 on a 50mph dual carriage way. Visibility on the road was good and the road was clear. What should I be expecting? RE: Caught by speed camera - Mattcheese31 - 12-01-2014 a speeding ticket or speed awareness course ![]() RE: Caught by speed camera - Tom - 12-01-2014 A fine and possibly some abuse? RE: Caught by speed camera - Stephen - 12-01-2014 Erm, a speeding ticket? RE: Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 I'd be over the moon if I'm able to do the course. Can't afforded to mess my clean licence up. Can someone just confirm if I don't get anything through the post for 14 days I escaped the consequences of speeding or is this just another myth. RE: Caught by speed camera - Curt - 12-01-2014 Being that much over I think it's unlikely you'll be offered the course, so 3 points and a fine. RE: Caught by speed camera - Stephen - 12-01-2014 Yeah doubt you will get the course being that much over. RE: Caught by speed camera - Connor - 12-01-2014 That's if the camera was "on" I was flashed just before getting on the M4 in london and didnt hear anything about it RE: Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 Yeah a lot of people are telling me not to worry about it until I get a notice through the post. But with it being the first time still not sure what to expect lol RE: Caught by speed camera - Grant - 12-01-2014 Speed awareness courses are offered up to 10% +9mph over the speed limit. (I have just got one myself ![]() RE: Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 A few websites that I've been looking say due to it being the first speeding offence I will be offered the course. But then again half the bulls*** on the net is a load of crap RE: Caught by speed camera - Grant - 12-01-2014 Direct from the letter I got from Surrey Police "A speed awareness course will be offered for offences up to and not exceeding; 10% +9mph of the advertised speed limit" RE: Caught by speed camera - laurence_13 - 12-01-2014 (12-01-2014, 05:12 PM)Grant Wrote: Direct from the letter I got from Surrey Police doesnt the amount over you're allowed vary between counties... On the AA website (the company who run the awareness course) it specifies the same as above. I'd be inclined to say it is a constant standard, but I couldn't say for sure. RE: Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 Lol very disappointed in my self I knew the speed limit of the dual carriage way and was also aware of the camera. But at 1am I was so tired that I didn't think of it at the time RE: Caught by speed camera - Curt - 12-01-2014 (12-01-2014, 05:08 PM)Moh Wrote: A few websites that I've been looking say due to it being the first speeding offence I will be offered the course. But then again half the bulls*** on the net is a load of crap Well that can't be true as it would depend on how severe of an offence it is... I got flashed by a strategically parked mobile van at 37 in a 30 years ago, got 3 points and fixed penalty. RE: Caught by speed camera - Grant - 12-01-2014 It happens. Speeding is the most broken law in the UK. Near enough everybody does it, and most who say they don't are probably lying. Ambiguous statement I know. ![]() Just next time, don't get caught :p RE: Caught by speed camera - Moh - 12-01-2014 (12-01-2014, 05:19 PM)Grant Wrote: Just next time, don't get caught :p Haha grant this is defiantly a wake up call to be more alert RE: Caught by speed camera - Curt - 12-01-2014 Sometimes it does take something like this to make you pay more attention/be more sensible. I know that I'm a lot different now from how I was 4 years ago when I did that. But it comes with age too... Regardless how of how quiet the roads are RE: Caught by speed camera - Grant - 12-01-2014 (12-01-2014, 05:24 PM)Curt Wrote: Sometimes it does take something like this to make you pay more attention/be more sensible. There is no set rules, just guidelines that vary from county to county All my offences occurred in avon and somerset RE: Caught by speed camera - Dum-Dum - 12-01-2014 Some counties don't offer the courses. I've been flashed by a few cameras and never had a ticket through so you could well be lucky. Did my course last friday lol It was like being back at school RE: Caught by speed camera - Stephen - 12-01-2014 Yeah totally depends where it was, each county can decide themselves i got one from doing 35mph in a 30 but i was told if it was anymore i wouldnt of got it. so your just not going to know untill you get something in the post, or dont RE: Caught by speed camera - c.gerrard - 12-01-2014 Holy crap man, I've heard of some people going to jail for speeding that much. Try not to drop the soap ![]() RE: Caught by speed camera - Marcus1991 - 12-01-2014 Where I live (North Yorkshire) you get offered the speed awareness course if you do less than 64mph in a 50mph. I bet that's all of Yorkshire actually, my mate got caught at 62 in a 50 (A64 heading out of Leeds) and got the course. You might be lucky mate, if it's 10% + 9mph that's 64mph, if you reckon you were doing "about 70", accounting for the fact that every 306 I've ever known has an under-reading speedo, you may JUST be lucky... RE: Caught by speed camera - Dave - 13-01-2014 Was the national limit specified or was it actually specified by a 50mph sign. I wouldn't worry too much, as said 306s under read no end. If you do get a ticket suck it up, most people have points now and it's not frowned upon on your insurance like it used to, some don't change your premium at all. |
