So I got a new gear knob from a newer car, and from reading found that you could un-staple the base and put it back on the original...
(New on left)

Bollocks. No way it would stretch. So I swapped the old gaiter over, which is a pain as it's a bit tired. Will get a new one.

Anyway:

For the record Liam, there's no DPF on a PD130.
And injector issues aren't as common as people say.

The ones I'd worry about are DMF and cams, but cams are usually OK if they've not been on longlife servicing, and can't really avoid a DMF on newer diesels.

I would 100% get a PD A3 if I could afford to buy one! Should stop reading this thread really, just makes me jealous haha.

Clutch kit on ECP was 115quid, its the flywheels that cost alot, but yeah you can get single mass conversions some say they're quiet others say they're noisey and horrendous.

This car is amazing. Any performance plans Curt?

If mine fails I'll probably go for a VR6 fly and clutch. (13-08-2013, 01:05 PM)Tom Wrote: This car is amazing. Any performance plans Curt?
Cheers Tom
Yeah, loads! Haha. Just finding the money is the issue at the moment. My turbo isn't very well and it's insured up to 230bhp, so when I can afford to it will be getting a KO3s with a custom map by R-Tech. That means I'll also need a FMIC, and a Forge TIP. But that power with basically no lag should keep me happy for a while!

Also want to do something with the brakes, preferably Cupra R Brembos, as the larger S3 upgrade isn't very well praised. But again, comes down to money. Want to upgrade coilovers too, to something better and mine aren't too happy. Then front and rear ARBs, and polybushes all round...

Yeah, I have plans!

Only if you're buying from the VAG dealer lol....

DMF is about £250 at GSF iirc... And clutch kit is around £100....the clutch is just a clutch tbh, only difference is the slave cylinder. You can even get more discount at GSF if the staff like you, was talking to one in Norwich last year that was telling me they have a floor price - then a discounted price - then a rock bottom price lol. Obviously at a garage the labour is about the same as a standard clutch change which adds to the price if you cant do it yourself.

You could go VR6 fly and clutch though as Curt said, a lot of people on the dub forums do. I'm not a fan of SMF's on PD's but its personal preference and budget really.
