First of all, I know this is a 306 forum. Unfortunately I no longer own one, but would like a project thread. So, here it is...

Some may remember this from a while ago...

I sold it just over a year ago, then realised I'd made a massive mistake.

My mate phoned me the other day to say that the bloke that bought it (his partners brother) was selling and did I want it. Well I offered him a lot less than his asking price and picked it up that weekend.

So it's back:

Unfortunately, he has left it with a few scars and a few "chav" additions.

Tried to remove stickers with a scourer?

So I'm going to get the W&D on it and then the mop, hopefully this week.

Then the rest:

EVERY wire in the car was twisted together... Including the remote cable for the amp...

Speaking of which, look how thin the wire he used for, erm, part of it was:

If a wood screw through the boot floor isn't enough, what do you do? Wedge a spoon underneath it, of course!

This stopped me wondering why the "sub" kept cutting in and out all the pissing time.

So, back in with my stuff... again. Luckily it was all cut to fit.

Then I thought I'd "fix" the parcle shelf holderupper. So a shaved bolt head and 2 nuts later:

I also changed the window regulator too, as it still didn't work since the last time I owned it lol

Then I had a delivery...

...and that's where I'm up to.

Fozzy has very kindly sourced me a replacement parcel shelf, so that solves that. Next I need to mop the car and do some paint correction, then sort the engine bay out. As it did look like this:

It now looks a bit neglected. Then, full service, probably cambelt and waterpump and possibly a FMIC and KO3S...

Thanks for looking.
Nice to see this back, I was actually thinking about buying this off you, and after how shit the VRS turned out I wish I had lol
Always loved this car the first time around,
Glad to see you've got it back!
Looks good Smile
I hate that twist and tape shit. And a spoon i mean wtf, since when were chavs smart enough to do that? Lovely car though, looks amazing on those wheels!
those are some pretty amazing bodges, i really do think the previous owner would've had to go to more effort to bodge it than do it properly surely?

ah well, im sure you will rescue it Smile
Love it mate, that car sits so well on those wheels.

Purfekt. Unlike the previous owners attempts at modding.
Great looking car mate.
Nice Smile I do prefer the look of these to the mk4 golfs, but find the golfs interior is far nicer. Are they interchangable? The golfs recaro's are very nice seats..

Well tbh, I'm glad you didn't... as I probably wouldn't have got it back lol. You got unlucky, shame it's turned you off 1.8T's as they're great fun and this one is brilliant.

Yeah I know, I was appalled at the twisting... then I lifted the carpet up and saw that. I've never seen anything like it. Yeah I love the wheels, even better with extra dish Smile

You'd think so wouldn't you... I honestly don't know what goes through peoples minds.

It's already pretty rescued, just the paint and engine bay really.

I prefer these to Golfs in every way really. I've always preferred the A3 interior as well, and I put full leathers in this so I'm happy with them. But yeah, they are interchangeable. I gave my old interior to my mate with a 1.6 Golf.

I may freshen this up like I intended before by painting the trim "piano" black like the S3's have.

So I've just been to pick something up:

Standard filter from an S2000. It's rather large!

DSC_1713 by TBK Shinobi, on Flickr

Paper filter rather than foam or gauze, so better filtration. Plus a velocity stack and it's huuge! Not bad for £20 from a motor factor, can be had cheaper online too. Just a shame about the colour.

Just got to get a reducer for my MAF now and it can go on Smile
Is that a 1.5l bottle?!
Yep Smile

Use this stuff

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAPLAC-HIGH-GL...3f22f30885

When it says high gloss, it really is. I did my dash in halfords gloss and it was ok but got told about this so redid it and its much much better and cheaper.
So glad you have it back! Just don't sell it again Tongue

Will look forward to the next outing in it Big Grin always out a smile on my face
Cheers Niall, will give it a go Smile

Haha, trust Matt, it's not going anywhere Wink. Yeah man, it does mine too... Ready whenever you're next over!

Ordered my reducer. Well I ordered the wrong size one, as the only option would be a custom one and I'm impatient. Anyway, hopefully some hot water and Fairy will solve that lol
Nice! I do like A3s, just a bit pricey in diesel form for me...plus they don't come with the 150TDi which I'd prefer after having 2 130's now.

Out of interest, the 1.8t is 150bhp isn't it? What's the fuel consumption like?
Cheers Tom Smile

They come in 2 forms, 150 and 180. This was a 150... But it's had a Revo stage 1, Forge DV, Ramair filter (soon to be the S2k), 3" decat downpipe, straight through diesel centre section and aftermarket back box... So it's not exactly standard lol plus I can't really remember what it was like standard apart from boring.

But it has a split personality... If you can be sensible it'll be very good. I remember cruising back from Bournemouth with Matt once at like 60 all the way and being very pleasantly surprised. If you can't resist however (like me) then it's rather thirsty. I've never worked it out, but I probably average 100-120 miles to £30.
Yeah I remember that! Was real good on fuel when not booting. But when it sounds like it does its hard not too haha
Yeah man, nice relaxing cruise for once eh Tongue with the good ol' XSi. Yeah tell me about it haha
Man I miss that car! Was so much fun
Me too Sad gone but not forgotten!

Haha, fair enough, sounds a lot less boring now then! Big Grin

I could be tempted by one, the 1.8ts come up so cheap these days, and Im not doing the milage I was before so not 'too' fussed by the mpg, but obviously its got to reasonable. Might try one or two out, see if I like...

Oh and as for the spoon earth.....I done the same but with an old window lock key in the silver Golf haha, worked quite well!

It's ok on a run, about 38-40mpg from my experience, but round town or booting it is proper shocking. I once had 196 miles from a tank in the Octavia lol

Yeah, you could say that Smile

Give it a go, like I say it's dependant on driving style. They can be good, can be very not good.

... oh dear. I've yet to find anymore cutlery, hopefully that was it.

A bit different though... yours had more weight and a completely different map etc. I find if you're sensible it's good all round, it's not shocking cruising about if you're behaved.
Looked and sounded awesome the other week! shame about the chav areas, but nothing a bit of TLC can't sort
Cheers, yeah it's getting there Smile. Just want to fit my filter now!

Yeah but be honest, how often do you behave? The 1.8T just begs to be thrashed, I couldn't really stop myself lol
I've already said I don't lol
It's just too tempting. Much as I love a tuned XUD, that wave of torque from 3k-6.5k is awesome...
Got my filter on today, adapter took a lot longer than I was told.

Sounds pretty awesome. As I already had the Ram-Air it's not really any louder under load, but when it dumps it's a lot louder Big Grin
reliable and punchy but is it not bit boring to drive though?
