Thread: Boring '6/Rallye MPG question
Post: RE: Boring '6/Rallye MPG question
New record. 47 litres brim to brim, 377 mi: 36mpg. All motorway at 70-80mph.
Deadly boring, but nice to know it's no worse than my 1.4 under similar conditions. Migh revise thoughts on swapping it ... |

If your car has the 135 tooth kit, you'll need anextra M8 by 40mm bolt to hold the new type of tensioner pulley on though. Can't... |

Have a read of this (http://www.stoptech.com/technical-support/technical-white-papers/-warped-brake-disc-and-other-myths). The first bit about what causes 'warped discs' sounds pretty plausible.

Watch out, there are different sizes!
The bit of paper from my head gasket set says there are three different options:
6x26.5x17 FAI part number: VSK860
6x29x17.5 FAI part number: VSK870
7x29x16... |

I found a bit of silicone grease on the seal realy helped sliding it in (giggity). Oil based lubes probably not the best idea as it may eat the rubber. |

Important to have a rad cap that maintains pressure because it raises the boiling temperature of the coolant. Not a worry at the rad, which will not get above 90 deg or so, but when you switch the eng... |

136 tooth for the smaller metal only manually set tensioner.
137 for the larger plastic/metal auto-tensioner.
A lot of people say 136 is the better option because it's metal.
I went for the 137 a... |

I've had a few TU engined cars. Both have had a film of oil in the rad, but no other indication of head gasket failure. I changed the HG on the 106, and there was no difference. After this, I conclude... |
