Going to pick this car up later, want to get the speedo sorted asap. Anyone link me to the sensor i need to buy? Its a 98 phase 2, or is there a chance i wont need one just a loose conection? Thanks

Probably best to go straight to a PUG specialist garage to buy a sensor / sender.
IIRC, To get to the sensor / sender you have to take out the driver side driveshaft anyway, I wouldn't go through that just to check it. Id buy one and if you don't need on then send it back.

As for the fourth gear grinding - sounds a syncromesh problem pal.
Syncromesh syncronises gear ratio's when you change gear - id say difficult to repair would reocmmend a new box in time
