Right so today's questions.

Ill apologise now cos Im showing up my complete lack of knowledge about petrol cars.

Firstly what does the charcoal canister do?

Secondly I believe these bits are related to the canister in some way but I dont know what they do or how they operate. Basically a yellow plug on the throttle body and then a brown plug on some sort of solenoid looking thing on the O/S inner wing and its all connected with a small diameter hose.

Its for emmision reduction, it basically 'catches' the vapour/fumes from the fuel tank and then shoves them into the inlet when the engines running. Thats obviously some sort of valve on the TB for it.

I'd imagine you could remove it but no idea if theres any sort of legal requirement to have it though (like the one where you cant vent oil breathers to air).

if you remove that the likely hood is that your cabin will stink of emmisions.
