What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - Dum-Dum - 13-10-2012 Right so today's questions. Ill apologise now cos Im showing up my complete lack of knowledge about petrol cars. Firstly what does the charcoal canister do? Secondly I believe these bits are related to the canister in some way but I dont know what they do or how they operate. Basically a yellow plug on the throttle body and then a brown plug on some sort of solenoid looking thing on the O/S inner wing and its all connected with a small diameter hose. RE: What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - Toms306 - 13-10-2012 Its for emmision reduction, it basically 'catches' the vapour/fumes from the fuel tank and then shoves them into the inlet when the engines running. Thats obviously some sort of valve on the TB for it. I'd imagine you could remove it but no idea if theres any sort of legal requirement to have it though (like the one where you cant vent oil breathers to air). RE: What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - Jimmyboycheck - 13-10-2012 if you remove that the likely hood is that your cabin will stink of emmisions. RE: What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - Dum-Dum - 13-10-2012 Does anyone know specifically how it operates and what each component does? RE: What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - cully - 13-10-2012 as tom said vacuum draws petrol vapours through the carbon RE: What do these do? - Think theyer related to the charcoal canister. - Jimmyboycheck - 13-10-2012 dont know what is done with that section when you fit boddies? etc. maybe look at a project thread for that. |
