Rebuild now or later?
#1
Pretty sure my rear beam is f****d, hell of a lot of negative camber on the offside wheel.

Will re building the beam fix this negative camber?

Along with this can negative camber take the beam past a point where it becomes un fixable?

Yes it is likely to be worn past a rebuild if it has visible excessive camber.

You wont tell till you've stripped it apart how much of it you can re-use, at worst you'd need a crossmember and rebuild kit.
need a part number? http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ and http://service.citroen.com/ will sort you out.

Okay adding to this I don't think I can be bother to rebuild the beam myself, given I don't have access to a press to re fit the trial arm shafts, also the idea of spending £100 on the rebuild kit to find out it I still need a cross member tube doesn't appeal to me.

I think i'm going to buy a refurbed beam from IM Axle or somewhere similar £205 with a 2 year warranty doesn't sound too bad to be although they would take away my axle but unless someone on here has a decent gti-6/ rallye beam I could have I don't think its a viable option to rebuild my beam myself.

Whilst changing the beam is it worth changing to solid beam mounts? I want to track the car at some point in it's lifetime and even if I don't I'm not fussed about cabin noise or reduced comfort too much as I really don't do massive journeys in the car.

Stef rebuilds beams. I would choose him over IM Axles. His prices are reasonable as well.

I do beams too but Stef is fairly local to you if you're in Somerset.

I would be very sceptical of a £200 beam given the parts to rebuild them properly IF you get decent quality parts is around the £100 mark, that's without a good core unit and Labour.
