As the headcing sugests, just wondering how many turns of a wheels bolt are required for a wheel to be safe?

7 complete ciculations okay?

1.5x diameter for any bolt to be at 100% strength. (Taken from my Zeus book, (for engineers))

so if the diameter is 20mm, you will need 30mm of thread.

Wheel bolts are 12x1.25 iirc. So that's 1.5x12=18mm. 1.25mm to the turn, so 18/1.25=14.4 turns. Although i'm pretty sure there isn't that much thread in a hub flange lol. Tbh if the bolt hasn't got full engagement just buy some the right size, they're not expensive. I assume you're playing with spacers or different wheels?

Too true. 

there are so many bolts with in the car that require them to be set at the right torque. too much and you warp the surface, too little and, well you know what happens  Rofl

85nm? I've always worked to 110nm

110nm and at least 7turns of thread. No use torqueing wheels up if it's only got 2 turns
