Phase 1 is different to phase 2/3

I think phase 1s are mechanical speedo but don't hold me to that haha

Phase 1's upto around late 1995 ish are full mechanical speedo (ie cable driven)

Late Phase 1's (late 1995-1996 ish) are semi-electric speedo (ie electrically driven but with mechanical odometer)

Phase 2 and 3 (1996 onwards) are full electric speedo (ie electrically driven and with a digitial odometer)

I know that the wiring is very different between Phase 1 and Phase 2/3 but not sure on precise details - Phase 1 is similar style wiring/connectors to a ZX (but almost certainly not pin compatible) with slot style plugs around the outside of the back of the clocks, whereas Phase 2/3 use a couple of high density plugs from what I recall.

great info, thanks Smile

sounds like I'd need a bit of loom, a wiring diagram and some patience if I want to go down this route

Yours is the same as an early Phase 1 with cable driven speedo, they won't be that vastly different I'd doubt...

Wanting to convert to electric speedo?

Yeah this, should be able to route it easier and not melt the cable :/
