Always good to know what you want doing before getting the car! I done it with my Corsa, Vectra, Astra, Punto and other things :-)

The first letters of those 4 are suspiciously similar to CRAP. Just sayin'.

You have to buy a car first before you plan it.

Yeah but then get into the mind set of wanting the car so bad you end up rushing yourself into buying a shitheap

We all make plans prior to most things, unless you're brain dead, of course.

Nope they are crap, gotta agree!

I agree but that's what I want doing to it when I get it so..... That's sorted, I think it's always good to have a plan but there's always a back up, if the car turns out to be a piece of shit, easy as to sort it out and then run it for a bit, if it's still iight then mod it!

Yeah I did that with the Corsa I had, it'd been back to the garage more times than people have posted on this forum!

Small update, cars got wind deflectors, didn't fit short shifter as didn't have time, also replaced fuel pump relay, didn't solve the problem, so now it's a short, so gonna sort that out when I can, the fuel pump relay connector where the cables are is broke as I managed to stop it from priming the fuel pump (with the old relay) and it didn't kill the battery, so I left it over night, started perfect (as before it wouldn't) driving back here, car died, great beans, breakdown came out, sorted the car got it running, ended up been the relay cables again, so I've stuck a tie wrap round them and bent them round, seemed to be okay, got back and the tie wrap had snapped, so now I'm getting another connector and changing it over, hoping that'll solve it, I know there all color coded as well so that's easy enough, plus I got everything I need to do it, so that's a win, hope it sorts it out, then the car will be all running sweet as a nut!

Well that's obvious DUH, I was on about a different one, like GTi-6 6 speed (to save fuel with it been a 6 speed) or a D Turbo one? I dunno!

An XU box won't fit the TU and a '6 box doesn't work like that anyway, it's close ratio. Just replace it for another one. Although 1.4 'boxes are generally a weak point, so it'd be a gamble.

QFT. The 'boxes on the 1.4 are officially made of cheese, i had my old 1.4 for about 18 months, and it had one gearbox replaced, and the replacement was on its way out when i scrapped the car. lol

Nothing wrong with them at all! The problems lie with owners that expect too much from a nearly 15 year old cheap runabout. If you want too improve the car then put a saxo vts / 106 gti gearbox on it as they use the same TU engine series.

if you want lower revs the ideal thing would be to fit either a saxo VTR or derv box, they have the longest ratios, although it would blunt the little performance the 1.4 has...lol had one fitted to my 954cc AX for mpg a while ago, wasn't terrible, just slooooowwww

Anyone know what these alloys are? There off a 59 plate 308 (We had it as a rental and totally loved it, not bad for a 1.6 16V Sport with 120BHP [So the manual said])

Cant remember what they're called, but they're nice. Will need spacers and smaller tyres to fit 306

That's fine mate, thanks for the heads up! I love the look of them so thought I'd get some slammed on the 306, then when I get a D Turbo I'm nicking them and putting them on mine, I'm gonna go for a black D Turbo and have it re-sprayed matt black along with the alloys matt black (I want it stealthy!)

So If your painting it Black, why does it have to be black? Why not ruin something like a................. blaze?

Nah mate, not my car, if it was my car I'd have it sprayed black (so have to tell the DVLA) not wrapped!

Okay guys, update time, so after spending ages looking to see why the car was dying I found out what it was, (Auto tech had to come out) It turned out to be the sub in the back of the car, it had a continues power feed to it, so that was sorted by buying a new Remote Cable to link into the stereo so it only comes on with the stereo now, that'll be fitted when it arrives, also got some H4 Crystal white headlights for it (along with white LED's for side lights) White LED's for the inside of the car (the blue don't look that great) trying to keep it all the same color with the light side of things, boot has got a 6 LED bulb in now as well, also the LED's for 10 was 2.50 off ebay with free postage and there mint, can't fault them, now when you drive the car you can see things and not be driving blind cause the crappy yellow old style bulbs it's got, also gonna look into the problem with the Fog lights on the front as that's still a pain in my ass and wanna get it sorted ASAP, the gearbox is still in the car, but we found out the noise is coming from the engine, could be a pulley or it could be a bearing inside the engine (at the top that holds the cam in place), as before there was loads of problems with the car there is now only 2 left to sort and then it'll be fine, Fog Lights and engine noise.

I haven't updated or been on in so long is cause I'm been working on the car, sorting little niggley bits out with it and sorting a major problem of it dying, so now I'm back Tongue
