Bias valve
#1
Hi guys,

Changed my rear beam from a drum one to a gti one around a year ago. My drum brakes had a bias valve in the line and also a compensator.
The new beam had neither of these and I just assumed that on the older cars the brake lines just went straight from the front into the brakes, so this is what I did.
I've recently heard a couple of people saying that the bias valve is very important, and I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have removed it? :/

Anyone fancy explaining what should be in a braking system? Smile

Ben

I've taken the compensator off mine and it's fine!

Do the back wheels lock up when you break?

I took off something else as well though which I think was the bias valve. My rear brakes don't lock up no but as there's no valve in there now the back brakes must be getting the same pressure as the front?

Cool at least I'm not the only one it can't be too bad! I braked very hard earlier and it felt nice and controlled and stopped very quickly, so I'll go by that and what you've both said and leave as is. Thanks for the replies (Y)

Mine was sticking didn't notice it in a straight line but I came round a bend and had to brake hard!!! That wasn't fun. Wd40 and a hammer sorted, though I think the ph1's is a load sensing thingamebob
