205 DTI

Some of you probably know my luck with GTI6 engines and shit luck has struck again.
I split a hose on the way to work and seems as though I've blown the HG again...

So I've decided to xud the thing with the td04 and hdi rods. I'll fix the HG on the 5dr diesel and put the t2 turbo on ice got spare. Swap the 11mm pump for the 9mm too. Put the quaife in the hdi box.

So I'm on the hunt for a base model /diesel fuel for a 205 to get things started

Turns out I didn't blow the headgasket luckily so I've kept the petrol engine in.

But i've had soooo much fun and games with the speedo cable and vss sensor of late...

After breaking the original one several posts up, I borrowed one off a freind and the only thing I can think that's happened is that the pin snapped off whilst driving and burnt the f*** out of the plug and then heating up the square link. Causing it to snap.

This then happened to 2 other VSS sensors afterwards and ruined 2 VSS sensors. Should of replaced the loom I know but didn't have a spare loom to hand.

I now have a spare VSS and loom thanks to Cheesegrater. So will try it tomorrow.

Then this happened

The speedo was sticking, quite humourous as when I went above 70 mph it shot up 140 mph [lol]

A trip to see Anthony solved this, many thanks again. You've got me out of the s*it several times recently and i'm very grateful! You're a top geezer.

Gave it a clean as well:

Transformation to diesel has begun!

Just got to take the driveshafts out and lift the 6 engine out

Then swap the quaiffe diff over to the hdi box I've got to put on.

Bloody difficult working in a council garage! Not a lot of room!

Putting a dirty diesel engine in my old GTi - it's nothing short of sacrilege I tell thee! Censored

Still, I guess the GTi-6 boys can breath a sigh of relief that their engines aren't going to be on the endangered list anytime soon if you've ceased blowing them all up for the time being.  I suggest the XUD boys buy up some spares while you can though, as if Paul's track record is anything to go by they're going to get thin on the ground pretty quickly...

I remember borrowing WVN off Anthony when it was still a 1.6. Can't remember why though.....And now it's going to be a dirty diesel?

WTF is it with you and GTi6's? Hate to think how many alloy Mi16s you'd kill!

Got a replacement td04 to go on, mine has never been as I mustn't of aligned the housings correctly when I built it. The turbine was stuck and then freed off after a bit of persuasion, got a feeling it's f*cked. Was making some awful grinding noises.

Would only max at 30psi. Going to be a hoot with the new one on. Slowly but surely getting round to doing this amongst all the family problems going on.

A few boost pipes need replacing as things have been rubbing on them.

Need to put the quaiffe in the hdi box too

Looking forward to getting this back on the road

Should have the box ready to go tomorrow.

Next job is to clock the td04 replacement, what's the easiest way to get that bastard locating pin out? I was thinking centre punch and drill it out as I don't have a dremel

Think that might of been why my last turbo was goosed, the cold side not sorting true and causing the turbine to get jammed.

I'm thinking of tryng to completely max a 9mm pump including internal mods as I think the 11mm on there is giving funny misfiring/jumpy problem part throttle when warm. Be good to see how they worth and learn a bit

Still need to crack on
