ive fitted the lightened pulley and flywheel to this engine so effectively a power gain yes

other than that it was built to standard spec with ACL main and bigend bearings

one thing i am impressed with is the Castrol edge oill, on how it maintains the oil pressure even when the temp climbs,
at all times i am getting 6.5bar above 4krpm

i need to put that to test on some track work Wink

car is still going well other than a fuel leak from the rubber hose on the fuel rail to which i replaced the rubber for now!

ive started the process of replacing the rubber joints on the fuel line, im going to be fitting braided fuel lines,
the main reason in doing this is to remove the 10 joints in the engine bay on the fuel line flow and return.

I am going to be replacing them with AN6 aeroquip type fittings and stainless braid ptfe 8mm fuel lines

to start off ive bought some weld on AN6 fittings

to fit these i have cut the rail end off and drilled the fitting to the same size as the rail tube
I then silver soldered the fitting to the rail

2nd fitting soldered

I had to clean up the rail and what better way of stripping the rust paint and crud
Electrolisis....
12 hours later and a quick wire brush

now for some paint
1 coat of galvanise primer

1 coat of primer
few coats of black

more to come..........

It's just a plastic box a battery charger and some scrap metal for the anodes, and some washing soda and water.

I think you'll be converting to 8mm metal lines and using a pair of an-6 to 8mm compression fittings...

i dont really want to go down that route but its an option if this route fails,
i want to use the std plastic hardlines from back to front and pick up on the inerwing

i seem to be having an issue in finding fittings that fit the peugeot Plastic fuel hard line, it turns out the peugeot pipe is measured 8mm outside diameter when all pipe fittings are measured by there internal bore diameter

there are no AN6 barb fittings available for the peugeot 6.5mm internal bore pipe!

the 2 X AN6 7MM - 8MM PUSH ON BARB where to big to go into the pipe

i bought some AN6 6mm barbs these were to small
and i cant find anywhere a barb fitting between these two sizes Sad

so...........

i have taken the AN6 7-8mm fittings and turned them down in a lath to make them 6-7mm

Is it worth the hassle? Surely new standard pipes would last another 10 years or so?

Can you warm up the piping to stretch it over the AN barbed fittings?

Definitely possible as I've done it before although advisable to only do it in boiling water rather than with fire.

im sure your not being serious Chris as hot water is not hot enough to get the pipe soft enough to strech it over the barb

ive binned the barbed idea as i dont like the idea on the fuel line!
I'am looking at inserts and compression olive fittings for the plastic hardline now Wink

not atall bad on my own i dont think
the new load leaveler worked real well in canting the engine around the gearbox mount before lifting it clear

once the bay was clear i could see some bits on the legs that needed sorting but after a poke and a scrape its all surface and treatable very easy with a sanding disc and some paint
which is Good news

and a small section under the ABS pump

Gear box mount is in excellent condition too

while i was in there i cut out the last of the Aircon pipework behind the engine now im just left with the two matrix stubs at the bulkhead which i can live with Smile

ive got some more metal to clean in the electrolisis tank before i pait them so have started that off too

so in all today has been a very productive day
there are a few things i still need to get  but we will start on the paint tomorrow Smile

I managed to do it and get the hard pipe stretched over a barb.
There was alot of brute force involved but everyone loves stuffing a fat barb up a tight pipe.

the air con was still in this car when i bought it now there is none left in the engine bay as ive removed all the pipework and compressor
