Was expecting worse! Well chuffed tbh, cable ties to secure the headlight, not sure what I'll do about the battery, I'm sure I'll sort something, and a steering rack gaiter. Not a hint of issue with the rear beam, although I'm still convinced it's had it.

Cable ties or a big jubilee clip for the battery too. The only real issue is the gaiter but even that ain't bad.

That's not bad at all mate, cost pennies to get through.

Battery: Bolt in the usual hole and the biggest washer that'll fit wedged in against the battery, job done. Or some huge cable ties. Seriously, as long as they can't move it by hand it's fine.

Yeah thats it, ive already got the gaiter kit, so will spend some time on it this weekend and get it retested in the week before heading to Grants next weekend.

Handbrake was an advisory last year, no reserve travel, but i fixed that. I am surprised about the oil leaks though.

Had a brilliant day today, both weather and work-wise. Got all the bits sorted needed for the MOT, and also managed to get my exhaust gasket changed!

Just gotta get the car booked back into the MOT place to have the retest, and jobs a good'un. I'm hoping the exhaust is sorted, havent had a chance to test it yet, as the battery is dead, and i have no way of jumping it at the moment, just waiting for a mate to bring his leads round.

With this weekend, and next weekend coming, and all the work thats being done to the car at the moment, im really feeling the love coming back....who knows, i might even wash it next!

In a classic case of speaking too soon, as well as the age old chestnut of "fix one thing, and then 2 more things break", it seems the drivers door loom is now extracting the urine. Or at least I think that's what it is.

Basically, central locking doesn't want to work on the ir, just locks then unlocks again as if a door was left open, key in the drivers door only locks the drivers door, and using the key in the passenger door locks everything without issue. Sound like door loom to you lot as well?

Ginge - The cable tie holding it in had snapped...these are the crystals from my China 1.4 (that i crashed), so only have 1 mount out of 6 remaining. Cable ties FTW!

He's actually a good friend of mine, but he said it was too loose to pass it....he also said just replace the cable tie and it'd be fine. So I did.

Piggy, just leave it...PugRory may well have read the whole thread, and there are more than enough pics of the car with oc stickers all over it, so I'm willing to give a newbie the benefit of the doubt on this one...I'd appreciate it if you'd do the same, and stop trying to start arguments in my project thread.

Tbh, mine has become a bit of a shed/workhorse recently, especially while I was unemployed. I've still got all my tools in the boot, and the rear footwells are completely full of stuff as well, and I haven't washed it since some time last year....maybe with the new(er) clutch in, and a decent rear beam at a decent height, I will get the love back again. Time will tell.
