seems a bit of effort for no real gain.
the cage will stiffen all things and you could of just welded in three spots for jacking. but not a crazy idea.. just seems a lot of effort just to be able to jack anywhere along there! Wishes for more power...
28-08-2013, 09:32 PM
Not really much effort, bearing in mind a plate would have been needed most of the way along to hold the sill together anyway.

28-08-2013, 09:33 PM
oh really, didnt realise it were that bad.
.if you could get a piece of extra cage to a couple points on that bar, that would really make it a serious advantage Wishes for more power...
28-08-2013, 09:50 PM
How do you mean? The bar is already welded to the mounting points through the floor..

oh well thats spot on.
its always a weak spot really on a cage...the cars chassis!...the section of floor/sill between the floor mounting points is often flexi...but you sorted it.... the more I think on it...the more I think thatz a clever thing Wishes for more power...

Good job. will lucks great when finish
26-09-2013, 08:13 PM
So here's the latest..
It's so much better to paint than grind rust! ![]() We've now got the whole inside painted, just a few bits to touch up here and there. On the floor, we used deck paint that you'd normally find on fishing trawlers, it's got sand in it to make it all grippy, and covers pretty much anything! Also test fitted the roof scoop, it's off a Subaru Impreza Next thing to do is move it to Carl's place again, then start turning it into a car!!
26-09-2013, 08:18 PM
That is FANTASTIC guys, a credit to you both ! This will be awesome when finished !!!!

are you building a custom car loom? as the mg metro cup lads when they build new racers, they build their own car looms, just a few basic odds and sods that was it.

Probably just gonna completely strip the old loom to the bare essentials for ease of making it, everything already to length with the correct plugs etc..
