banging from rear back wheel when going over bumps

the rear bang from back near side im right in saying the shock has had it, I understand they easy replace. any guidance guys would help.

Moved to the right section. Banging could indicate that the rear beam is broken (bearings have gone) and needs replacing. Is there any camber on the rear wheels?

are you sure it's not rear beam mounts?

Could be one of the beam mounts as above, i have just changed all of mine and now no more knocks.

Depends, i wouldn't buy cheap ebay ones as they won't last.

rock the car in reverse with handbrake on...if it knocks, likely beam mounts.

wont help front beam mount are a pig to diagnose unless they are hanging and these are the ones likely to be banging

if the beam aint cambered and shocks are ok...99% of time it be mounts!

I would say beam mounts

Its either the rear mounts, ARB end plates where the bush has worn out possibly or similar and the last one is the lower shock bolt nut, this has been known to come loose and cause knocking.

there is another possible cause... loose spare wheel, will knock against the boot floor over some bumps, mine's doing it atm, the adjuster is solid so it's soaking in plusgas until tomorrow

my thoughts that too I checked the spare is flat so might be that

have a look at the shocker bushes,
they sometimes move off them

well the banging was coming from a tyre cage, with a flat tire in rack. Der what a muppet. :-(
