So, my sidelight bulb has blown, standard ....

So i was about to order a new bulb when i thought, hmmm... what other options are there besides the standard bulb?

Any suggestions - links also would be delightful!

Well I know you lot on the deserted island rarely have contact with "the world" and as such need to be told these things.....just in case you ever come over to the real world.

i see a fair few people on the island AND IN ENGLAND, with LED sidelights and crystal white - assuming this is still legal - example being many of the newer modelled audi's and VW's

Yep legal. If your going to get some LEDs, go for some decent ones. The cheapy ones go pop quickly.

No get some proper side light ones and they just pop in like a normal bulb. If they don't work straight away, take them out, turn them 180 degrees and pop them back. Job done.

20 smd's FTW

yes they fit, used them loads of times. they are sexy.

EDIT:

get SMD fog lights if any of you have a ph3.

heres my old laguna with 68 SMD fogs, cost £4.99 inc postage:

brighter than HID's at a fraction of the cost..

that pic also shows i believe 12 SMD sidelights. look slightly blue in the pic but in person both are absolutely crystal white

Nope, pretty poor don't you think, I don't mind having to replace them every now and again but every 2 days would be a bit much I think! I will take pics when I get home if I can find it! apart from the bits that are still rattling round inside my headlight that is!

f*cking rant: why the hell do we have conform with laws like have only one type of colour for our sidelights when I get distracted and nearly crash cause bloody trucks are allowed as many blue leds all over the front of their cabs as they want. i see blue lights in my mirrors all the time lately and its driving me f*cking mad, surely light laws are the same for cars and trucks. mental...bloody mental...I agree that blue should only be for emergancy services, makes it easy, you see blue lights you make sure your not in the way. now i glance in my mirror and see blue lights and i have to double check if its a bloody police car or just a truck!!
