I wouldn't say it's very shit to be honest. I would say it's a typical hot/warm hatch, if you thrash a petrol it always has more of a detrimental effect on fuel than a diesel.
I stick by the fact that if you buy a petrol to worry about the MPG then there's no point. But as long as I can afford it I'll always have one, because it's worth it.
