Interesting as I never particularly rated 1144's as a track pad.
They work well enough on the road (although noisy as said) and could just about stand up to track use on something light like a 205, but really weren't up to the job for something heavier like a 306. Indeed, I think from memory a 306 with GTi-6 brakes and 1144's remains the only car I've ever managed to get significant brake fade on at the 'Ring.
Certainly I went from 1144's to DS2500's and found them better in every way - well worth the modest difference in cost IMO.
Tempted to try something from Carbon Lorraine next as I keep hearing good things.
