They seems alright, just a lot of them come with the control for the Variable vane as part of the turbo body itself.

You are right though, most of the GTBs have a circuit board/actuator box on them...although could be controlled otherwise
and its very hard to find even little GTBs at less than £200...
I hunt everyother day for a sub £200 GTB2260 and not yet found one even close...most want £300-400!
With a little bit of easy modification you could get that running off vacuum. Although i bet there's a bit more to running a VNT than just a vacuum/pressure.
We rang midland turbo, and a rebuild for the bigger GT23 was just shy of £400, that's new bearings, seals, internals etc.
ouch. Could buy 3 turbos for that price!!
yeah but the way I see it, is off a vacuum loses most of the advantages of VNT...so if you go through hassle of the VNT...set it up right like ZX_Volcane...
