I'm a big fan of Hotpoint Washing Mach... Rotary engines, but they're hardly the best in the not drinking oil olympics, especially after having a bit of abuse from someone who doesn't know what they're doing...
And you couldn't hardly say they have "torque off idle"...
f*cking love the things, but gutsy, economic or intensely reliable aren't really words I'd use to describe one...
Also the way that their displacement is measured is bullshit also, yes it's displacement the face of the rotors for one stroke... But in reality you need to measure two faces of each, since effectively it's a double sided piston... It's output is really more comparable to a 2.6 litre 4 cylinder engine - a two rotor "1.3 litre" rotary consumes as much air/fuel as a 2.6 litre 4 cylinder would.at the same RPM.
