The 1.8 is a much better engine than the xsi engine. For a start, its quite a bit lighter so the car feels a lot more nimble. Also, the 1.8 engine is much revvier than the 2.0 and i genuinely think that the extra few BHP on the xsi isn't worth it. I happily kept up with XSIs all day long in my 1.8! I think the weight difference offsets the slight power gain of the xsi engine.
