Absolute dose of an engine imo, boiled 3 of them in my younger pre-pug years, cav went well tbh but baked if held flat in 4th or 5th, now dont me get wrong your granda could probably clock up 300k on one but one bit of abuse or pump tuning and theyre a kettle.

It's an odd choice to put one of them in a 306 I agree but there's nothing wrong with that engine, I think you're just calling it shit because it's not a Peugeot/XUD. As far as I'm aware an "evolved" version of that 1.7 is still being used in brand new cars.
