My sole piece of advice - don't try and run two cars.
It just costs you a bloody fortune in the long run.
Paying out for TWO lots of MOT, Insurance, Tax, Parts ETC ETC. I was looking at doing it, have a daily then another car on the side, but I just can't afford it, it's ludicrous to even attempt to! I mean, I could AFFORD it, but I'd be putting almost ALL of my money into having TWO cars and running them both badly, I rekon it's cheaper to run a GTi6 on its own than run a Diesel daily and have a GTi6 as a "weekend" car... You also end up only ever driving the "weekend/summer" car like a penis because you want to get the most you can out of it...
That's my view on it anyway... I wanted to convert the GTi6 to Diesel and keep that as the "fun" car that I could piss about with and have like a 1.9d daily, but I literally can't afford to, hence I ended up putting the Diesel in the GTi6 and having that as an everything car. The only major disadvantage is that when shit hits the fan when you're doing something to your car, you can't just go "sod it", throw the tools in the garage and go inside in the knowledge you can still get to work on Monday, that's the MAIN advantage, but the money it costs is simply not worth it IMO.
