I had this problem took ages to find a solution and that was... Split up with my mrs!
Serious! I split up with my mrs go really pissed off and upset thrashed the living day lights out of the car and all of a sudden it went bang!!! Temp gauge went up loads of black smoke from exhaust covered window and it cut out. I checked everything still had water and things so I let it cool down tried starting her up and she hasn't cut out since.
