IIRC the Brembos are just lighter than the STD GTi6 calipers. I know the discs are heavier but Im tempted to see If i can get some alloy bells and rotors made up, this would probably eliminate the squealing issue too. Thing is discs are rotating weight as well as unsprung weight whereas calipers are just un sprung weight so Id rather have heavy calipers and light discs than vice versa.

To my mind you want to reduce spinning inertia more than unsprung weight...
Brembo calipers are lighter, the xantia discs that are a direct fit to the hubs are chronically heavy though. The alternative, which allows you to run bigger diameter discs is ash's 310mm kit sold over on the 6forum at the equivalent price of your average house....
The best solution, particularly on a budget is good discs pads and fluid with std calipers.

Surprised at the lack of boost of one form or another plans tbh but really interested in what you're going to do with the weight saving and also the Brembos as the old kits from Ash are hard to come by now he' stopped making them.
You gonna get a bracket made up and look at bells & rotors or just look at other one-piece disc options? I'd eventually like to look into getting a bracket made up to fit Brembos and some 2-piece discs to fit under 15s but it's way, way, way down on the list for me!

Thats what i was saying about the rotating weight being the more important one.
Ashs 310mm kit is only for the radial mount clio calipers not the 406 lug mount ones. I need to speak to him about mounting bells so I could use other discs.
Ive already bought brembos so theyer going on

No bracket, just gonna go for the largest rotors i can fit under them cos IIRC theres a little bit of space when using the xantia discs. Compbrake should be able to drill a set of bells for me.

Rallye blanks are on my list of bits on order from pug.
Ive had a bit of a touch with pug today, my local dealer shut down, i wasnt gonna go to the next nearest one cos its in london and thats chaos right now so i went to slough and one of the parts guys I know works there. The bonus is instead of getting 10% off I now get 12%. Woop Woop!

From what I have read off the 6 form in the past, of four or five 4 pot calipers tested Brembo's have the lowest brake co efficiency, are heavier than say wilwoods, hi spec or ash kits. I think if you are looking at lower weight and better stopping power get something else.
Also bigger disc's does not always mean better stopping. F1 cars only use 285-300mm disc's and they seem to stop fine. Yes I know light as a feather compared to most cars but also a damn sight more powerful.

Hmm reducing corner weight in a '6 bin the air con - it probably doesn't work anyway lol. Toss out the spare wheel and cage also the jack and the brace. if you have no spare wheel you don't need a jack and brace lol remove rear speakers from parcel shelf or in fact just throw the shelf. Bin the rear seats and belts and also the front passenger seat - no one deserves to share the awesomeness of your journeys in a car like this

Interesting stuff with the weight saving from each corner Chris, as said best thing to do would be to remove AC and all the pipes/gash. Helium in tyres anyone?
As for Padge's car, well he just seems to be a fella who will keep his car on the road by swindling work from his mates for free, and then when they get pissed off he was swap it out for something else.

Not convinced...
My only experience with nitrogen was that my brand new tyres went down really quick, I filled then back up with just compressed air and they were fine

Well if nissan think it's good enough for the GTR i can't see any reason why it's not good enough for our pugs As for it letting down i can't think why.. they normally use nitrogen because it's more stable and doesn't usually leak in comparison to normal compressed air!

Have you bypassed the heater matrix then and removed it? seriously bud be ,careful, iirc ruan did a whole load of research on it and its an integral part of the cooling system. The whole system has been flow tested with is in, so by removing itt you end up affecting how the engine is cooled...

Don't worry its only out as I didn't have the matrix housing when fitting everything. I've got it now and will be ordering a new heater matrix this week providing mot is successful. It will be going in

f*cking LOL No worries mate, was on my phone and couldn't be arsed to sort it out in the end!
IIRC You need brackets made up to 'space the calipers out further radially from the centre of the hub to permit larger diameter brake discs than 283 on our hubs...

The reason i think you might be able to get larger is everyone on the 6 forum says you cant use the 406 discs (305mm) as theyer the wrong offset, (the disc face is almost level with the hub face) not cos theyer too large. The calipers look too far out on the 288 mm xantia discs and im pondering if i can use the 307 HDi 136 (302mm) discs as theyer the same offset as the xantias. Also being a larger diameter theyll have a different resonant frequency so may well not squeel.
I suspect at the time people first started fitting brembos to 306s the 307 discs werent common whereas the xantia ones were so thats why they were used.
Ive put a thread on the 6 forum about it but nobodys answered. I really dont want to have to spend £70 on a set of discs that turn out not to be right.
