Monday - get correct wishbone and attach. Get bearings back together.
Tuesday - get driveshaft back together and hub on with all accessories. Wednesday - Exhaust and rear rear mounts replacement. Thursday - hopefully have brakes and reattach and do rear pads - bleed brakes. Friday - Go for testdrive when jenni is here and if all is good, arrange tracking to be set. Monday tasks done except that I may be missing one bearing pin the pins shift slighly on turning but will look again tonight. Grease made them stick no probs! Doesn't look like another could fit but ill dig into the boot one more time. Still no brakes http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)

Hope you sort this out matey, know how you feel. If it helps make you feel any better - my own bastard HDi still won't start despite having £500 "invested" in it over the last 3 months.
Good luck, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Tuesday - driveshaft is back on. But now my strut is so low its touching the wishbone and I think I may have to compress the springs to be able to get the hub on. Going to give it a go tonight me thinks. So behind schedule. Dont want to work on the rear before both front tyres are on. Dont have enough axle stands to support both ends. Still no sign or word about the brakes. http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)

Huge progress today!!!!!
Got hub all reassembeld and all tightened up! Got new caliper on and the bleed nipple was nice and free. Replaced the rear brake pads and got all the other brake nipples free. So the only thing to do now is buy some brake fluid which I will do tomorrow and bleed the brakes and I'll be rolling again! Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooop!!! http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)

So Sunday:
Bled brakes and got all the tools out the way. Reversed her out of the garage, all good Drove her down the drive and back up...brakes work. horrendous squeaking from the belt that i changed. Drove her down the road a mile and back and here are the symtoms. Push in the clutch: Grinding noise, i suspect coming from driveshaft where I dislocated it. (might be the pins) Brakes a bit shaky: new ones might be settling Squeaking drive belt. worse than before. A hell of a lot of smoke out the back as if the timings out but didn't touch that side of things unless that is related to the driveshaft turning. So cant drive her cause if the inner driveshaft bearing that i rebuilt arnt right, its too dangerous for my liking. damn.... http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)

Sounds like the shaft is f*cked to me mate, but like Connor says a new shaft isn't dear
26-02-2012, 07:00 PM
may not be dear but its all that work again plus more to get it sorted. when i got it out of the garage saw the that the right rear wheel is cambering like a bitch in Pisa. Might take it to a garage and ask for a quote to do what ever it needs to get it sorted.

f*ck only just seen the trouble you're having, I'm only in airdrie and would have gladly lent a hand!
Saying that, the cars in bits so I don't know how id have got there
27-02-2012, 11:29 AM
Your in airdrie? how did I not notice that!?
Well I have sorned her and taken her off the insurance for now and going to have a break. She can sit in the garage for a week or two until I get my head round this but I don't think it will be worth it in the long run. Just need a spare wheel so I can take my white swallows with brand new winter tyres off, not letting go of them considering the price! And it will be rolling on missmatched tyres for either a buyer or a scrappie. Not sure if I should take the brand new parts of and put the old ones back on...seems like a lot of work but also such a waste! http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)

Sucks its going :-( like yoy say 2 in 2 months must be gutting? Staying with the 306's?
27-02-2012, 07:44 PM
Well, ill let her sit in the garage for a while while i ponder, take of bits and bobs and maybe sell her as repairs standard and if that doesnt work, scrap...but scrap is really going to be a last resort!
already eyeing up a td estate and im sure i will get back in to 306's once everything else has settled down. hoping that when jen and I get a place together again, ill have a bit more disposable cash for a good project and more time on my hands. Just too much work for the daily at the moment. Ill give it a months rest...(well, if a bargain comes along...then a bargain must be taken ) http://www.sanderson-brown.com MrsMoonstone Wrote:Cats eyes get in the way of the racing line!Moonstone HDi Phase 3- Scrapped --- 1.6 Phase 2 - Scrapped --- BMW 318is 1993 (Hyperventilates)
