Need to weld a plate in place, then filler to smooth it off and paint. You will also need to smooth the grill

Not hard at all if you can/know someone to weld a plate and if you know how to use filler

You don't HAVE to weld a plate, there's a fair few ways of doing it, a metal plate behind would probably stop any filler etc. from sinking though

No you really do have to weld a plate in, take your badge off and you'll see what i mean

Unbolt the badge, get a plate welded in and then use filler to get the final shape and smooth

Definitely weld the plate. If you don't the vibrations of shutting the bonnet will crack the filler!
