Sudden loss of grip..

So today I decided to take the car for an "enthusiastic" drive and nearly lost it completely.

Literally the car will hold grip and then the back end will go.

Have just had the MOT and new tyres all round.

Any ideas?

How many miles have you done on the new tyres? What are they? If that's all that's changed and you haven't driven much they'll need to bed in...

Other than that, the usual beam mounts etc.

if its properly slippy it could be diesel! If not then shagged rear beam mounts would be my bet. Heard of a few people losing it because of them!

if the tyres are only on 350 miles, you should really be scrubbing them in for about 500-750 miles.

Crap sidewall, shit in the wet, don't last...

At the end of the day they're a BUDGET tyre and you can feel it on the road - I'd never put them on unless I was doing a track day and I had money to piss up the walls and see off a set in a few hours.

Did you have a girl in the car? did you use the hand-brake? If so, It wouldn't surprise me if that made her so wet it spilled out of the car, onto the road, and you lost the back-end........

Jack the car up so the rear wheels are off the ground then see if the beam drops or moves

Check your rear wheel bearings dude one of mine gave up the ghost on a driveback from burnham to brum at first felt like crosswinds then bout 70miles later it felt alot worse pulled over atthe services n check the bearings, not good to say the least

I had a bad experience like this. back end styley to find out my rear shock bolts were loose

mine does it but i have 2 good tyres on the front and 2 budgets on the rear...... But thats how i like it lol works well with the torque of a weasle

On the spec2 subject as soon as they see moisture they're wank. Michelin PE2 ftw! Maybe if you were in a hotter country spec2s would be ok but here where we get 2 days of sun a year.... f*ck that.
