every car i have owned hasnt been a bother like tbh. i havent remapped it either just gave it a Decat/de EGR and a K&N filter. topped off with yellow stuff pads turbo grove discs and a fifth alloy, rounded off nicely with a GTI6 splitter and wind deflectors.
i think i need to under seal the car this year, possible new suspention and exhaust. we will have to see what the mot tester says 1st.
not sure if i should remap her tbh, as i have the rover metro thats fast.

iam the same jonny, id get shot of the metro over the 306. iam debt free for once in 8 years. iam just going to try and save some cash to one side and get on the property ladder. with me living at home with the rents iam able to save some cash.

I'd 100% go for a stage 1 remap. There are literally NO downsides

i have been toying with the idea, thought about intercooling it aswell. only thing is it mite bump the insurance up as i have already got a quick car.

Nah stuff the intercooler, as you say, you already have a "toy". The stage 1 is just a must do on these cars IMO, improves MPG, power, driveability (IMO), just feels generally better.

i will have to look at the price of the insurance 1st, as iam paying just 466 for it now fully comp. the rover is 6 quid cheeper lol.

Longest car I ever owned was the epic China 1.4......a whole 10 months!
Joint second at 9 months each was the silver golf and ph2 1.4.

So judging by that....the most reliable car must be a 1.4 306...
