Update..

Passed MOT today with flying colours Tester noted it was incredibly clean on top and emissions wise but chassis is covered in surface rust so i will have to step forward my plans to strip and paint the chassis before we find ourselves in winter!

With the current discussion in the chatbox i thought i should update this!

Have put 3.5k miles on this since purchase and its currently my only vehicle on the road using it to tow and carry heavy loads aswell as commuting 30+ miles a day.

Have replaced the waterpump (was leaking when i bought the truck) not to bad a job!

Only mods i have done is a decat and EGR blanking kit and it has been completely reliable so far. Very happy with it! Have put some decent all terrain tyres on it that i had lying around which have really made a difference both on the road and off the tarmac

Mods im planning are a front upper light bar with 4x spotlights (already purchased just need to drill the gutter rails and get the relay to wire it in the full beam) and fit a snorkel before i get it mapped.

Feel like i should update this somewhat!

Been reliable as sin and covered 10k miles in it now since purchase last autumn. Only major jobs i have had to do is front axle upper & lower balljoints and replace the fuel pressure regulator as it was leaking diesel (been like it since i bought it and my god hasnt it improved the fuel economy now!)

Only jobs left to do now is to replace the intercooler as its bowed and leaking (replacement purchased for £30) and to replace the watts linkage bushes under the back end as its started knocking over rough terrain recently.

Things i have done since this was last updated!

Fitted a snorkel and a much nicer set of alloys i had been after for a while, managed to pick them up cheap with a nearly brand new set of insa turbo dakar mud terrain tyres





Finally took the plunge and fitted my tubular steel winch bumper, mostly because I have also purchased a 5.5t winch to mount in it.





Need to have a slightly smaller plate made so it can be mounted on the bumper neatly rather than cable tied to the grill, also need to retro fit a mk1 discovery washer bottle in the engine bay to get rid of the standard d2 one hanging out below the bumper. Although checking the screenwash level has never been easier

It has been used for some greenlaning and has proved incredibly versatile! I lead a party of fellow local landy enthusiasts around some good local greenlanes one sunday and even encountered some snow!







And recently i have swapped the standard horn that was full of muddy brown water for a hella sharptone, great difference!



And lastly i finally fitted my spotlight bar & CB aerial mount, Have since purchased a 42 inch LED bar to mount instead of the rusty old spotlights.



few more updates to come soon i expect, have booked my trailer test for end of this month and am saving for an Ifor williams so i can then tow the cars to trackdays etc etc

2, can you shed more on cb? like a good starter rig to begin with.

Also got round to replacing the rear bumper i smashed months ago.



After all that i gave it a scrub and a hoover out inside reasdy to take my trailer test yesterday...

Cheers buddy one thing i will say about the light bar is dont mount it too close to the roof, i made that mistake and it whistled like heck above 35mph

Made some use of the new B+E entitlement on my licence

Picked up a local rotten but mechanically sound discovery 1 300TDi for £180, undecided on wether to just flip it on for a few quid or chop it about for an off roader toy







And of course gotta get the little un involved loves any excuse to put her work boots on!

Been doing a bit more trailer work recently picked up a 2.5tds lwb frontera on 56k miles for £70 that i'll just be stripping a few parts off and weighing in on saturday.

Was a little trip out into the sticks



All loaded up and heading for home





Also i finally got so p'eed off with the numberplate i chopped it down and bolted it to the bumper



Hopefully next week i'll have my winch mounted and i'll be sorting out my idea for some anderson connector style grille mounted long reach jump cables which i have been slowly amassing parts for!
