As most of you know. iv just bought the state last week, but the tax runs out this week. as you can prob guess i havnt got the log book. and chances are it isnt registered to me. so this means if i apply online it will go to the previous owner. but if i go down the post office i cant tax it because i dont have tge log book. i also dont have a tax reminder, so how am i supposed to tax it??

Then you can't tax it in a post office unless you go to a mot station and get a reprint (no more than £10) or you can do it online and its automatically checked.

It has to be the station it was issued at. I had this problem taxing Rowells 'state as he only left me the smoke test without the actual certificate lol. lol

If the car is registered to you (i.e. you have the V5), do it online and everything is checked automatically.

No it doesn't Tom. I had one done a few months back at a garage 100 miles away from the original station.

Huh!?

I asked two garages near where Sam lives if they could print a duplicate cert and they said it wasn't possible and I had to go the one where the MOT was done!! Confused

Also you should need it... BUT the post office can check the MOT online....they don't like doing it as it takes time and their system is apparently not great and only work half the time...so they'd much rather you just took in the cert.

And guess what...when I went in to tax Sams car without the MOT the system didn't work! Rolleyes
