Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014 The car will jump to 3k revs when I start it, then after tapping throttle it will drop and bounce between 1-2k revs. Ive changed and cleaned icv but still bo joy. Ive even disconnected the battery. Heres a video ive taken. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laCUmQdCH9Y&feature=youtube_gdata_player RE: Gti6 idling issue - Danny2009 - 11-03-2014 Sounds like a air leak mate spray some carb cleaner or something allong them lines where the gaskets are are if the revs pick up that's where the leak is Re: Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014 Cheers danny think ive found the culprit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY4znm50EQo&feature=youtube_gdata_player RE: Gti6 idling issue - Danny2009 - 11-03-2014 Looks like you need a new inlet gasket ![]() Re: Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014 I bought one other day actually. So whole point of getting car running nicely is to see if it gets to temp and not over heat during mot... RE: Gti6 idling issue - Niall - 11-03-2014 Assume that hose popped out of the rad? The way the hose is fixed into the rad is shite really! The idle will be a air leak somewhere or a very very sticky ICV although even if the plunger was fully open, i don't think it would rev up to 3k. Also check your TPS. Cheera niall after spraying crab cleaner around I pick up its leaking on inlet mani gasket. As for the pipe it had popped out the rad so I'm guessing its broke the connection and could mean a new rad? I'm guessing it was a air blockage in rad or thermostat stuck open as radiator was cold and engine was 85c RE: Gti6 idling issue - cully - 11-03-2014 revs on mine would hang at 3-4K blip throttle it would drop turned out to be a loose butterfly on the throttle spindle do the two screws up sorted ![]() Re: RE: Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014 (11-03-2014, 11:23 PM)cully Wrote: revs on mine would hang at 3-4K blip throttle it would drop Will give that a try tomorrow mate make sure they're tight. If you look in the second you tube video when I spray carb cleaner it sorts the tevs out so new gasket going on tomorrow RE: Gti6 idling issue - cully - 11-03-2014 just looked at the video yup gasket would be a good start ![]() clean up both faces good and clean dont let any shit in the ports as there will be grit and stones on the manifold edge when you remove it Re: RE: Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014 (11-03-2014, 11:41 PM)cully Wrote: just looked at the video yup gasket would be a good start Cheers will keep that in mind, just worrying that I might of broken rad when hose popped of. Everything was going simple, but luckily it didn't do it when it went for mot. |
