Haha, I'm not sure I'd want to do it to someone else's pride and joy lol but we could have another detailing day!

I used to go to Hastings regularly for work... It's not that far, man up Tongue. If we do make another day of it, it'd be worth the trip, it's always a good laugh!

Cheers man, glad you like it Smile. Good to meet you too (at last, haha).

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - vlj - 07-08-2013

The hat is a fantastic idea, UNTIL you drive a few miles and it keeps slipping when you change gear - you'll quickly remove it as I did :p

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Curt - 07-08-2013

It wasn't a practical purchase lol I figured it would do that before I bought it...

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Curt - 08-08-2013

So I got a new gear knob from a newer car, and from reading found that you could un-staple the base and put it back on the original...

Bollocks. No way it would stretch. So I swapped the old gaiter over, which is a pain as it's a bit tired. Will get a new one.

Just because you have no sun on the island. You are still in the dark ages!

You knob looks.... Errm.... Sexy!

Never thought I'd say that! But yeah good work man! And nice one on the glasses holder. Look forward to rattles from it when you're driving though lol!

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Curt - 09-08-2013

Haha, I'm rather pleased with my knob Tongue

Having been out and about, I can report it doesn't rattle Smile.

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Fozzy - 10-08-2013

Looking good, shame about the gaiter, im sure you will come up with a replacement.

A few from FCS of emma abusing the A3 (which is filthy now)

Re: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - THE_Liam - 12-08-2013

I am actually quite tempted by a PD 130 A3, but the DMF/cam/DPF/injector issues put me off. All these need to look awesome are BBS rims and lows...

Haha, awesome! Was Emma inspecting the bullets? It wasn't that bad! I washed it for the show (to be parked in the public car park...).

Go for it. Think that would be my choice if I couldn't afford the correct fuel...

Just don't blame me when it goes horribly wrong lol

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Toms306 - 12-08-2013

For the record Liam, there's no DPF on a PD130. Wink

And injector issues aren't as common as people say.

The ones I'd worry about are DMF and cams, but cams are usually OK if they've not been on longlife servicing, and can't really avoid a DMF on newer diesels.

I would 100% get a PD A3 if I could afford to buy one! Should stop reading this thread really, just makes me jealous haha.

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - THE_Liam - 12-08-2013

Can you just put a normal flywheel off an older Audi on them? And is it true a new clutch and flywheel is like 900 quid?

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Tom - 13-08-2013

Clutch kit on ECP was 115quid, its the flywheels that cost alot, but yeah you can get single mass conversions some say they're quiet others say they're noisey and horrendous.

This car is amazing. Any performance plans Curt?

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Curt - 13-08-2013

If mine fails I'll probably go for a VR6 fly and clutch.

(13-08-2013, 01:05 PM)Tom Wrote: This car is amazing. Any performance plans Curt?

Cheers Tom Smile

Yeah, loads! Haha. Just finding the money is the issue at the moment. My turbo isn't very well and it's insured up to 230bhp, so when I can afford to it will be getting a KO3s with a custom map by R-Tech. That means I'll also need a FMIC, and a Forge TIP. But that power with basically no lag should keep me happy for a while!

Also want to do something with the brakes, preferably Cupra R Brembos, as the larger S3 upgrade isn't very well praised. But again, comes down to money. Want to upgrade coilovers too, to something better and mine aren't too happy. Then front and rear ARBs, and polybushes all round...

Yeah, I have plans! lol

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Curt - 13-08-2013

Oh, and a TT steering rack.

RE: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - Toms306 - 13-08-2013

Only if you're buying from the VAG dealer lol....

DMF is about £250 at GSF iirc... And clutch kit is around £100....the clutch is just a clutch tbh, only difference is the slave cylinder. You can even get more discount at GSF if the staff like you, was talking to one in Norwich last year that was telling me they have a floor price - then a discounted price - then a rock bottom price lol. Obviously at a garage the labour is about the same as a standard clutch change which adds to the price if you cant do it yourself.

You could go VR6 fly and clutch though as Curt said, a lot of people on the dub forums do. I'm not a fan of SMF's on PD's but its personal preference and budget really.

Re: (VAG content) My A3 1.8T (again) - THE_Liam - 14-08-2013

I'm seriously tempted, always liked A3s.
