RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 18-08-2014 Hasn't been much progress lately as iv been very busy with my job and my daily has been giving me endless issues but I'm now not too busy for a while and the daily has been fixed and passed its test so things will hopefully get moving again Only update for now is iv fitted a high flow thermostat (came all the way from australia ) So that should help with cooling ![]() ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - aggyj17 - 18-08-2014 Have you got a link for the thermostat?? RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Piggy - 18-08-2014 Doesnt look any different ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 18-08-2014 Pugracing sells the thread you need for the oil filter RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 18-08-2014 Yeah I'm not sure if it's any good tbh but I needed one anyway and saw that so went for it 30℅ more flow should help better than a lower temp one in theory if it does show any actual gains I don't know yet Got mine on eBay - a lot more than the cheepest ones but same sorta price pug want for one http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=171357428721&alt=web (18-08-2014, 08:40 PM)Paul_13 Wrote: Pugracing sells the thread you need for the oil filter Thanks I'll have a look into it ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - dashmader - 19-08-2014 Looking very nice your built up RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 19-08-2014 Thanks Still loads to do and waiting on lots of parts Clutch arrived today which made me realise that I don't have the bolts that hold the clutch to the fly wheel so will need to source some Iv still got to get / do new gearbox as the old one was shagged before the old engine gave up Weld the exhaust manifold up (waiting on the pipe hopefully this week) Get some injectors as the old engine went " missing " Tidy up the loom Fit the stdt dial wire them up Get a radiator and another slimline fan Sort out the interior which is now a mess Sand and polish the car haven't touched the car since the respray and the filler sunk so that needs sorting too Weld up the rest of the exhaust - completely stait through no back box I'm going to lower the temp the fans kick in but that's all worked out just need parts The old battery decided that it would leak all of its acid out the other day so replacing that Finish smoothing and painting the exterior trim And of course fit it all Probably plenty iv missed so still plenty to keep me busy Anyway I got a Sachs clutch as they haven't let me down in the past so hoping that it will hold up to the new turbo ![]() ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 20-08-2014 Use a set of sump bolts mate. M7 thread. Got a few if needs be. I've got a gti dash loom as well if that's of any use. RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 20-08-2014 (20-08-2014, 12:19 PM)Paul_13 Wrote: Use a set of sump bolts mate. M7 thread. Got a few if needs be. Didn't realise sump bolts were the same cheers for that ! I think iv got some knocking about I dunno about the loom would it get the stdt clocks going ? I think my loom has all the wiring already there obviously cant test any of it at the moment but I can't remember so I'll have to get back to you on that 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - td_dan - 20-08-2014 I had a problem getting my revvs to work, all the wiring was there And i had a brand new sensor and still nothing, narrowed it down to an earth plug by the clocks ill get a pic for you RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 20-08-2014 You have Base model clocks which are far different to stdt clocks. The amount of plugs are the same, the pin outs should be as well RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 20-08-2014 Yeah iv got base model clocks fitted in the car and iv got some stdt clocks to go in it I heard people have issues with the rev counter so was going to wire it in from the sensor my self just need to find a diagram to figure out how as all the rest should be plug and play I think RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 21-08-2014 The actual plugs on the back of the loom for Base model clocks aren't compatible with the stdt clocks. I've just done the same conversion myself a few weeks back. I've been messing around with 205's for bloody ages, if you need any bits or advice just ask. Got loads of parts lying about RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - procta - 21-08-2014 looking good there andyyy RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 21-08-2014 (21-08-2014, 04:31 AM)Paul_13 Wrote: The actual plugs on the back of the loom for Base model clocks aren't compatible with the stdt clocks. Okay I'll give you a shout if I need any thing thanks ![]() Thanks procta So thought I put some photos up of the stdt clocks as were all talking about them ![]() The plug for the rev counter ![]() And the plug from the sensor ![]() I also have a sensor with a brown plug somewhere which I think is the one that will plug into my loom / was plugged in before RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - akuma406 - 23-08-2014 Andy, curious thermostat, and will tell us if you noticed impact on the engine cooling RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 23-08-2014 The plug for the Rev counter is blue, either 3 or 4 wires going to it. Do you want this gti loom? The plugs will got straight on and you won't need to worry about manually wiring up the Rev counter. You just need to take the dash out and swap the loom like for like. I'll give you a hand doing if you want. And like I said the base model loom is completely incompatible with gti/stdt clocks Got your message mate, that's no problem RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 24-08-2014 Yeah if I notice any difference I'll say I'll probably get a OEM one to swap out and test it against once its all up and running I doubt it will do anything to be honest but I'd like to prove my self wrong lol Yeah I think I'll need tbh let me know what you want for it ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Uberderv - 25-08-2014 You might have to join but this might be useful mate- www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=48341 ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 25-08-2014 Nice I'm sure that'll come in handy RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 25-08-2014 Not much progress again due to other things getting in the way but did manage to tap a hose tail into the manifold for the boost controller ![]() Might tap another one in to go to the compensator on the pump and the inlet adaptor I'm getting at the end of the week looks like it has one (thanks paul) to go to the boost gauge so should be able to keep it all separate and tidy without any t pieces which will be neater With any luck at the end of the week I can get the car to the work shop and start sanding cutting and polishing and dropping the engine in RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - andyyy - 17-09-2014 So progress stopped due to massive workload at my work hasnt really got any further strarted mocking up come oil lines but thats about it so this is pretty much paused until the work dies down a bit On a better note got rid of the beamer i was using as a daily (and made a nice profit ![]() RE: 1.9 DT 205 GTI cherry red - Paul_13 - 17-09-2014 Is it red with white wheels?
