Hmm tuition on track in your own car. Seems like nothing but a good thing to me may have to try that myself. Good to see you're having fun with it man. Everyone spins on track once in a while as well. It happens.
On a break from 306oc for personal reasons. If anyone needs or wants me most of you have my number and or facebook messenger
Thanks for the good times guys n gals. I might be back. Who knows.

what has my trackday taught me!

Fast exotic cars arnt always fast,
expensive cars look nice but people are scared to drive them,
your not there to race anyone,
track etiquette
a std car with good tyres and small suspension tweaks can work well
Rain levels the playing field,
dont buy a caterham/7/westfield......one of my all-time wants has been squashed
track tuition is not just for beginners .....highly recommend it!
if a race circuit offers garages take one,

you can have a blast with a £500 car built in a shed

what has the day cost me...
£170 trackday entry,
£30 tuition,
£110 fuel roughly 100ltrs,
£140 tyres x4, these will go again
£100 front disc/pads these will go again,
£30 food costs,
£50 oil change,

I did around 170 road miles and 150 track miles to the fuel i probably have 1/4 of a tank left
I had a very good day i would highly recommend it to anyone
but please make sure your car is up to the track miles as they are hard on the car

anyway im off to look at my next track day Big Grin

took the wife to the zoo for here birthday today to see her cousins

parked the car up and walked away with the std turn and take a picture pose.................

she really looks a peach on std rims and std splitter, gone is the battered old gooner one Smile

i seem to have a list of things that need doing since combe

1. remove competition discs and pads they are a little un nurving on the road and they squeal when cold
2. refit the 16" wheels
3. replace the door loom drivers side as some wires have broken over the weeked
4. oil change closer to FCS with something better than the castrol Edge

decided today to tackle one of the items on the list!

the dreaded Drivers door loom

Ive had some new looms in the garage ive been saving for this as i knew id be doing it again

so it started
removed door to release the loom
something was different to the last one i did
i couldnt release the loom on the inside of the car so i wouldnt be able to pull the slack back into the cabin
never mind there is a big enough space in the A pillar to eat it Wink

after a few hours of cutting testing soldering and sleeving all was done

i found the copper loom wires on the car quite corroded, black copper is hard to solder, you cant unless you clean it up,
I used a more aggressive flux ;Wink I used plumbers flux the same stuff they use for soldering copper pipes

i taped the loom up and fed it into the A pillar and refitted the grommet, refitted the door and tested

before i had no heated mirrors or rear screen as the fuse kept melting

but now i have it all working including electric window again Smile

quick check to see if the fuse was running hot but no .......

oh Castrol 5-40 a lot better than the Total 7000 10-40 i was using
but on track watching the gauges you can realise when the oil is working hard and what happens to it at rpm vs psi vs temp

i will be looking for somthing like
5-50 or 10-60

taken car off the road for some work! Smile

started to strip stuff off to gain access to the diff casing,
managed to get far enough to release the diff, tomorrow i should be able to release the gearbox mount and lower/swing the gearbox for enough clearance so i can remove the diff completely

Would've been easier just to remove the whole gearbox wouldn't it? Although I guess it's not so bad once the subframes dropped etc

couldn't get 8 bolts so have used 6 new and 2 used bolts,
have spaced the old bolts opposite each other so to keep the balance,
the new bolts had thread lock blue already on the threads, so I have used thread lock on the used bolts,
to which all were torqued up to 65Nm

I was going to attempt to fit it tonight but Que the rain....... Sad

Ok Ok i get it now Its not a bad thing Sam to end up Behind a Rover :p

your probably right though in being slow as I will need to learn to power on exiting the corners earlyer, not like now feathering the power due to under-steer

Any luck getting the diff back in?

Takes a little getting used to, hitting standing water at speed is an interesting experience.
