It's not that they weren't good cars, its that they were actually pretty much the equivalent of going and buying a brand new Ford Focus RS. I'm sure lots of us here would like one of those but not if it means dropping 25-30k on it!
They were a halo car. The top of the range one that boosts sales across the whole range and creates a positive brand image for the 306.
