Ive had 2 gt4's and 2 mr2 turbos Gt4's are cracking cars but are thirsty on fuel tyres brakes etc compared to a 306 anyway, they are tuneable the st205 being the better car with 240bhp easily tuned to 300-320 before needing engine opening just depends what you want from a car i guess. From experience the toyotas are very reliable

f*ck off the 306's and plump for a GT4. As said, ST205's are very capable cars, even more so the WRC spec with antilag as standard <3

DO IT!

I know what your saying andy but whos going to buy a turbo s16 for 4k when I want to come to sell it? With a gt4 st205 which are holding there money well parts arent to bad on price plus the handling is insane and you want more power bolt a stage 1 turbo kit a boom 380/390 hp plus turboing a fwd car to that power you might aswell have arms like I buses to keep it straight and trust me I dont as I like my maccy d's to much

GT4s just aint all that unless you actually are going rallying...

It's too much of a serious car... An S16 you're able to explore the limits of the car without triple figure speeds... I've always said this about cars, Imprezas, Evos, stuff like that is ALL the same... If you're getting to the point where you're exploring the car on a public road, you're being f*cking stupid...

A friend of mine has an MR2 Turbo - same engine, admittedly RWD, but even so, it's probably ~320hp, but it's to the point where you put your foot down and instantly you're breaking the law... It's boring to me to have THAT much power with a chassis that can probably cope with another 100hp on top and still be within its comfort zone at 120mph+... I'd MUCH rather have a 306 where you can chuck it down twisties and if you want you can put your serious face on and attack it, if you want you can leave the throttle trailing and have the lovely french hatch-esque tail tuck in as you corner... At MUCH more legal speeds...

Fair point ruan but I want to get out of the french side of cars and explore with jap as I cant stand german as there really really boring and I want to staty doing track days to.... but I dont want to finish on the dt and want an s16/gti6 bit for the sake price for the bits for a 306 for what I want you can gain more with a gt4 :/

My mate had a GT4... it's been on his drive for the last few months whilst he's been breaking it.. spent a stupid amount on it and got f*ck all back.. Bottom end went on it... paid over £700 for a low miler engine to be sent over from japan.. not a month later and the bottom end is gone.. IMO not reliable at all.

That said, in a straight line that thing was rapid, 0-60 even in the wet must've been around 5 seconds, it'd spin up all 4 wheels in the dry no problem but it just didn't feel that 'fun' in the corners, sure it gripped but it just didn't feel fun til you were going sideways or going silly speeds..

Eh?! These engines can run 300bhp no problem. Apparently, upwards of 400bhp is possible on standard bottom end with an aftermarket ecu/proper tuning. I would imagine neglect and pleb tuning is what causes the blown engines.. Unless there is something in particular I am missing?
