What are these white spots on my nob?

What are these white spots on my nob?

So last week fitted new gator and knob from a 406 but there are white dots around the hea of he knob?
Slightly concerned, should I contact anyone who has touched my knob?

It's mildew, just like on your other knob.
Custom roll cages/shiny suspension bits/general fabrication work undertaken, PM me.

Really sorry man but i forgot to tell you. I got diagnosed with spotty knob a few years back and you were one of the only guys i couldnt get in contact with.

I reckon you have some of the paint that's worn off from numbering and rubbed into the Leather surround.
