1.0 Petrol jumpy engine problem
#1
Got a 1.0 East0coast Saxo that has a problem where at certain revs such as cruising with only alittle throttle it jumps and the revs fluttuate like your blipping the throttle(but your not) also sometimes does this on idle.

Cars had very little care by the looks of it was a young lad who owned it before.
Airfilter was blacker than the depths of space. Currently running defiltered and that's made a slight difference. Fitted a new fuel filter also but no avail. I'm sure its a fuel starvation issue but going to check plugs this weekend. Is more noticable when low on fuel.

Hoping its a small issue like a blocked filter rather than engine troubles as I have scrapped the good 1.4 engine now Sad

Ye that's the plan I don't want to be replacing parts if its not likely to be that, that happened on her 106 got new coil pack, gaskets, serviced with plugs the works then it just died and needed a new engine

If you hold the throttle at, say 2krpm for a while, do the revs wander up and down slightly after a while even if you hold the pedal in the same place?

If so, probably the lambda sensor.

Someone suggested something the other day on here, and i think its quite apt in this situation as well. Introduce a match to the fuel tank, and that will sort all the problems out. lol

Seems odd but when it happens you press and release the clutch it stops it for awhile. Even on idle Not sure it has a MAF sender it is SPI

The engine load change might be enough to reset the trims.

Unplug the lambda sensor and try it.
