Hybrid'ing a turbo
#1
well im looking at making a hybrid TD04-19t im about to order everything i need in the next week or so as i have a donor TD04 with damaged blades.

Im having to change bearrings as they arnt flat on the 19t but would i need to get it balanced? im thinking yes tbh as want it right

Also can anyone recommend anywhere reasonably priced for balancing and maybe flowing the compressor housing?

Really no need to modify the compressor housing, they're damned good as standard really...

You'll definitely need to have it VSR'd, at 200,000rpm with anything SLIGHTLY out of balance, it'll destroy its bearings and just shit itself prematurely... IIRC Turbo Dynamics do VSR for about £60.... Make sure you buy decent genuine bearings, ebay bearings and seals are crap really...

And yeah, as you said, the 19t is a superback compressor wheel, make sure you specify this when you come to buy the reseal kit.

Thanks guys ive been recommended a kit by a company that sells on ebay by the performance centre next door but forgot to ask them where they use for VSR etc. they kit comes with new housing new compressor wheel and bearring kit with seals all for just under £150, so worth a try if anything

Cheers

^^^ Not appropriate people.

Turbo dynamics are very good but if theres anywhere local to you it might be easiest/best and save on postage.

Why dont you see if you can get them to fit 360* bearings (if they arent already)

TD04s are 360 as standard as I remember...

I think you can get uprated oil seals for them though...
