Gti-6 engine not starting

Managed to find a 2nd hand CS and, with a few barked knuckles, the car now runs again!

Sounds like you need to start with a new crank sensor. They aren't expensive. Not sure why it would randomly fail while the car was sat, but the plastic body was possibly damaged from 000's of heat cycles & the internal windings have started to corrode.

I'm also not sure whether lack of valid crank signal would supress the spark but seems entirely possible.

You echo my thoughts m’sieu. Crank sensors are not 2 à penny here though, so was hoping for something that is, to be the culprit. ?
