Who is he and why am I getting grief from him for not telling him, step by step, how to do an engine change!?
He wasnt even sure how to remove the shafts...

So I said "without wanting to cause offence, if you are not sure how to remove the shafts, maybe an engine is a bit much at this stage of your experience"

and he had a go at me and saying how arrogant i was and how he knew he should have asked Darren!?

Hmm...

He's usually alright tbf, you must've aggravated the situation somehow.

Jesus Christ, toys out the pram much.

My original message

"Hey mate, can you help me. I'm struggling to find a decent guide or get some answers on the forum. (Face weekend is probably worst time to ask tbh) I'm about to tackle my first engine engine change.
Can you tell me step by step what to do? Like driveshafts, how do I remove them? And all the sensors/ wiring?
As far as I'm aware, it's
Disconnect driveshafts
Disconnect wiring
Disconnect exhaust
Undo all the bolts
Drop engine? "

Pretty much the same message I'd shot to anyone on here. I was asking you as it seems like an area of your expertise.
Didn't realise you are actually a jumped up prick that doesn't actually like to help.
Like seriously, I know it's fcs weekend and all, but a quick write up of how to do it wouldn't have taken long. Now I know how to do it, the write up would have taken about as long as boiling a kettle.
And yeah I should have asked Darren, you and him seem like the big guys in diesel tuning in this forum, and he's always helped me out in the past, no problems atall

Matt you and piggy are like opposite ends of the human being spectrum.

Piggy is the biggest pedant going and matt you are more of a bodger than I am.

Matt is this still your Rallye engine change that I helped you put the new engine in 2 years ago or is this another engine change?

Hey I'm a lot better now, I don't bodge anything
But yeah sebs right, the dt snapped a camshaft two days ago. And now I'm f*cked. Can't even drive to pick up an engine crane to do the swap aha.

Why not just swap the cam shaft or has there been valve to piston contact?

The sound in which in made, coupled with 145k, creamy oil, and a major leak somewhere. I just think it will be better to swap to the ph1 83k engine. It was pretty solid.

Probably strip down the old engine and rebuild it at some point

		yeah and my message was

"I dont wana cause offence, but if you dont know how to remove a driveshaft then maybe removing an engine is a bit beyond you"...or something like that.

Its honest and factual.

No offence Piggy, but the way I see it, Matt has made a perfectly reasonable request for information. Who are you to decide an engine swap is beyond his skill level? If he's willing to give it a go, and learn some things on the way, I say good on him!
