Looking to buy a new shell and found one which is the right model and engine but it's got a bit of a nasty scratch on the side. Question though does it look recoverable without having to respray everythinggg
Does this look recoverable?

Depends if it's down to the metal, you could make that look better but I have a feeling its down to metal which means it'll need paint.
You might be lucky and be able to use a touch up pen & then find someone local to you with a DA polisher who can get it looking better. Get yourself on detailing world & ask if they think it's gonna need paint or not, it's amazing what some of those guys have saved.

What JJ said!! But with the shape of the scratches and the reflection on the panel it looks very likely it has dented it, really need to see that sort of thing in person, see if u can see metal through the scratch and if you can get your finger nail init, if so then personly you won't get it out without major arse ache.
Phoned the guy up today and apparently its a graze from his girlfriends wall but it hasn't gone down to the paint. He had a quote of £80 to get it repaired but because of the price of the car he didn't bother. Perhaps its like JJ said and a touch up pen and a buffer will get it looking fine again
Think I'll try and get round to have a look as he's willing to work on the price as well

see if you can get a door in the same colour and go from there, should be plenty of these in scrappies.

It's not the door though but the rear 3/4 panel.
It's probably nothing to a drift car

Steve.... shut up. Wait for a proper blue one like we have already told you on facebook...

How can you miss a wall there? With the mirrors in the right place I can dodge things in the Focus by mm's, though nothing as low as kerbs unfortunately lol.

Been waiting for ages though and they're just not about. Besides I haven't got much time anymore with the current zr windscreen crack getting worryingly big now. No point paying for the repair if it's going to be ditched in 2 months

Il stick a post up on Detailing world

forget it then steve, a better shell will pop up, for what it would cost you on that, you could just drop a second hand unit into this current shell.
Why not look for a Rover 25 3 door and drop the full works into that, be all plug in play tbh. As its the same car.

Going to look at it Saturday, as I will be able to go during the day and check it out just in case it isn't that bad. Kind of needing a replacement soon though as the current one is falling apart and I don't want to spend money on replacing windscreens etc if it's going in march/april.
Dave, is that a thing about you not being able to see the photo or that they don't look that bad? |
