I'd still use the genuine 'box oil...306s are a bit fussy on it tbh.

I think we already have a generic forum discount from ECP, if you could get one that works on top of other offers that'd be good though. Smile

Will certainly see what I can do, I'm sure I can do a bit more for the Croydon lot if they use me direct but have to deal with me!

Thanks for oil grade note, we do valvoline which I've used in previous cars and never had issue with, unless Pugs are that fussy?? I've been quite lucky so far with mine!

Can wreck an MA box with the wrong brand oil...from experience. Dodgy

Tend to just have trouble getting 1st, reverse and sometimes 2nd with cheap oil in the BE boxes though, particularly when cold. Some on here say they never have a problem though so its up to you really.

You work in Croydon ECP? I usually go to the Chessington branch but they are useless in there!
Reckon you could set up a cash account for the forum if i come over and do the paperwork?

Also, as others have said, use genuine pug stuff. These gearboxes are VERY fussy with their oil.

genuine total oil all day, its not bad on price either, retail is 12 odd euro a litre plus vat so prob less with ye.
change youre gearbox driveshaft oil seals too while at it, saves hasssle later as they usually go too.
Probably cheaper from yourselve, aep are keen for them too.

Yes mate, Croydon branch, I'm also collision and performance parts specialist at my branch as well Smile come down, bring some headed paper, I'll sort out an account - bare in mind the accounts department are a bit rubbish at the moment at setting up an account but I'll give them a shove! Failing that, I'll sort out other ways for discount Smile

I'll send you a PM when I'm in, I'm working today.

I'll have another look when I'm in then, didn't know about the seals? Anything else worth changing while I'm down there?

I'm giving her a mini service tomorrow before the clutch gets done next week, so going to be nice getting to know her intimately Smile

Head down whenever, if you already have a cash account set up at chessington then it should work here but sometimes prices do change. But that said, yes, I'll see what I can do about getting one set up for everyone Smile

If you do head down ask for me - Rob (everyone here know me as Rob, outside of work everyone calls me Bertie) here's my direct line too 02087743521

As said as well, I'm Performance Specialist here and will taking over the collision too from Jan 9th, so opens up a bit more if anyone wants bigger items etc...

Cheers Smile

Whilst I usually recommend sticking to the dealer oil for Pug boxes due to the damage some other common motorfactor oils can cause, ECP do actually sell Valvoline HPC 75w-80 which is very similar to the spec Total BV.
Custom roll cages/shiny suspension bits/general fabrication work undertaken, PM me.
Top engine mount repair/reinforcement/chocking for cracked chassis and high powered cars, drive in, drive out, 2 hour turnaround.

if your doing the clutch ,dont bother change your oil yet, You will probably loose most of it when taking the box out.

change your drive shaft seals when the box is out.

I lost oil when the drive popped out when we were doing a pbushing and I had none so I used Motul motorcycle gearbox oil. Do her no harm

Yeah, as Rippthrough says, I'd normally only recommend the Total BV stuff... I'm not aware of other oils, but Ripp will know best on that one.

As I understand it's due to phosphor-bronze being used on some components inside them (synchronizers) which some additives will react badly to and damage the synchros... EP additives are usually what f*ck them!

Most people aren't aware of this with the PSA boxes. MA boxes from memory are even worse for not using the correct oil!

Yep, pretty much that, and once it's in there it's very hard to get it off the synchro's, even with multiple flushes.
