Hdi rods what to look out for?
#1
Right guys im going to fit my hdi rods in my block today havent stripped the xud block down yet.
My questions are

Whats the best way to take the oil chain off?
What torque do i do the conrods up?
What way do the shells go round?

Sorry for all the questions but i want it to go as smooth as possible

I'm not sure you will have to touch the oil chain? Surely if the heads off you can unbolt the old rods from the crank and tap them out the top?

Just make sure you use sputter bearings on the hdi rods.

You dont need to take the chain off but you will need to take the oil pump off but thats pretty simple. Just undone the 3 bolts and pop the chain of the sprocket.

The shells will only go 1 way in the rods and i lined the writing up that is out the out side of the rod which some of them have. I expect theres some pics in my project thread.

And torque settings
Main bearings Renew bolts/nuts: No
Main bearings Stage 1: 15 Nm
Main bearings Stage 2: 60°
Big end bearings Renew bolts/nuts: No
Big end bearings Stage 1: Autodata Note
Important note
40 Nm
Slacken off + 20 Nm + 70°
Oil pump to cylinder block : 20 Nm
Sump bolts : 20 Nm
Sump drain bolt : 30 Nm
Flywheel/driveplate : 50 Nm
Clutch pressure plate : 20 Nm
Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt : Autodata Note
Important note
Loctite 40 Nm + 60°
Camshaft sprocket/gear : 45 Nm
Camshaft/rocker cover : 5 Nm
Inlet manifold to cylinder head : 25 Nm
Exhaust manifold to cylinder head : 20 Nm
Injector/clamp : 90 Nm
Injector nozzle to holder : 75 Nm
Fuel/injection pump sprocket/gear : 50 Nm
Fuel/injection pump flange : 20 Nm

Any issues give me a shout and ill try to help
