auxiliary belt length with different power steering pulley diameter
#1
my pas pump has died so i bought a replacement from a breakers via eBay, checked the part numbers on service box which looked like all 1.9dt pumps were the same, however this is apparently not the case as my new pump has a smaller diameter pulley and an extra mounting hole on the block side.

the diameter of my old pulley is around 131mm and the new one around 114mm. my auxiliary belt just drives the alternator and power steering, there is no air con.

could i just grind off the extra mounting hole and use a smaller aux belt? and if so does anyone know which belt would work?

thanks

The new one you have looks like a GTi one to me. Do the extra tabs stop you from mounting it? If not, id leave them on and just fit a smaller belt.
